marine pollution survey

 1. DeepwaterHorizon

The spill was caused by the failure and explosion of an offshore drilling rig called the Deepwater Horizon, which is owned by BP. The explosion also killed 11 workers and injured 17 others.
After the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, a wide area of water quality near the oil spill was contaminated. Many fish, birds, marine life, and even plants were severely affected, suffering from illnesses and death. The fisheries in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama entered a state of disaster, with over half of the respondents expressing dissatisfaction with President Obama's handling of the incident. Officials pointed out that more than 300 seabirds have died due to oil pollution along the Gulf of Mexico coastline. President Obama stated that the impact of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is akin to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

2.Minamata Disease incident

In 1932, Smoksu Co., LTD. (Smoksu is nitrogen, the company changed its name to "New Nippon Smoksu Fertilizer" in 2012) produced vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate at the Minamata plant, using a catalyst containing mercury in the process. As a result of the plant's arbitrary discharge of wastewater, these highly toxic substances containing mercury flow into the sea, are eaten by aquatic organisms, and are converted into organic mercury compounds such as methyl chloromerhg (chemical formula CH3HgCl) and dimethylmercury (chemical formula (CH3)2Hg). When humans prey on Marine organisms, organic mercury compounds such as methylmercury enter the human body through fish and shrimp, are absorbed by the stomach and affect the brain and other parts of the body, causing bioaccumulation.

3.Tanker Toli Canion incident
In the 10 days since the Torrey Canion ran aground, 38 million gallons (123,000 tons) of crude oil have been spilled, and the oil has drifted to the south coast of England and the coast of Brittany, France. To this end, the United Kingdom airdropped 190,000 kilograms of napalm bombs into the waters of the incident, part of the spilled oil burned, and France dispatched 42 ships, the use of 10,000 tons of toxic solvents and cleaning agents, to clean up the oil spill pollution. However, the oil spill still caused serious pollution in the nearby sea and port, and the use of dispersants and cleaning agents also brought some damaging consequences. Thousands of seabirds have died, local tourism has been seriously threatened, and the nearby ecological environment has been adversely affected in the longer term.
