Inspiration

While I was exploring inspiration for my masks, I searched through a lot of artwork related to marine animals. This particular piece of artwork I found gives me a sense of softness and gentleness.

The Lacquer Art Sculpture Series 'Beneath the Sea

The series 'Beneath the Sea' of lacquer art employs biomimetic design techniques, using lacquer as the medium and incorporating colors with unique Chinese aesthetic connotations. Techniques such as gold lacquer variegation, multi-color blending, and mother-of-pearl inlay are utilized to showcase the aesthetic beauty and conceptual imagery of marine life at various stages of existence. This expression reflects the artistic spirit and insights derived from personal creation, resonating with the philosophical notion within Chinese artistic ethos of 'striving continuously for self-improvement.

I like how they showcase marine animals like squids and jellyfish, capturing the beauty and mystery of the underwater world in the artwork

GuilFord castle  A rich man's back garden with a high tulip content. Tulips and a variety of small brightly coloured flowers that bloom in the spring are so healed by these flowers that you can wander around the garden blowing in the wind and sitting idly. It's really cosy. Everywhere you look in the UK there are people sunbathing on the lawns, something you rarely see in China. This kind of freedom, relaxation and enjoyment is what I have been pursuing!
